P!nk Returns With New Single, Annouces New Album

21 hours 5 min ago
Grammy winning, platinum-selling singer P!nk, will soon return to radio airwaves with her newest single, "So What." The anthemic song is the lead single from her fifth and still untitled album, coming Tuesday October 27. "So What" will hit the airwaves in early August and will be available for sale online in mid-August.

"So What" was co-written by P!nk and produced by Max Martin, who successfully collaborated with her on her #1 hits, "Who Knew" and "U + Ur Hand." Meyers is also set to direct the video for "So What." P!nk previously worked with him on the videos for "U + Ur Hand" and "Stupid Girls," which earned an MTV Video Music Award for "Best Pop Video."

Since her debut in 2000, P!nk (who's real name is Alecia Moore) has been widely hailed as a fearlessly talented singer/songwriter, and the Pennsylvania native's genre-defying creative risk-taking has propelled her to global stardom. To date, she has sold 22 million albums worldwide.

The Black Kids 'Partie Traumatic' Available Now!

July 22, 2008 - 1:00am
Somewhere between touring incessantly and impressing everyone from David Letterman to Rolling Stone, the Black Kids managed to fit in some time to launch their debut full length, 'Partie Traumatic,' out today.

Produced by ex-Suede guitarist Bernard Butler, 'Partie Traumatic' is a collection of ten intelligent and energetic pop songs that Spin.com says "is sure to leave fingerprints on the repeat button across the indie-rock realm."

"Black Kids make catchy, tightly executed songs that put a memorable stamp on pop's classic themes," said Pitchfork. With comparisons to The Cure and Belle and Sebastian, The Black Kids wasted no time proving their effective mix of new wave meets modern pop. They got their start in 2007, when they launched a free EP through MySpace, entitled "Wizard of Ahhhs". The buzz quickly spiraled the group of siblings and friends from the online world to the stages of Coachella and BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend. Their single, 'I'm Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend How To Dance With You" debuted at #11 in the UK, and is gaining traction in Canada now.

The rising indie pop stars and starlets will be hitting up select cities in Canada in support of the release. Check out the dates below, and don't forget to catch them on "Late Show With David Letterman" (July 24), "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" (July 30) and KCRW's "Morning Becomes Eclectic" (July 28).

A release date of Tuesday September 30, 2008 has been set for the release of 'Way To Normal', the new album from Ben Folds. Produced by Dennis Herring (Elvis Costello, Modest Mouse, The Hives), 'Way To Normal' will be Folds' third solo effort since the break up of the Ben Folds Five in 2000.

Indie pop heroine Regina Spektor also lends her voice to the album's first single, "You Don't Know Me". "We were just having a good time," Folds says about making the album. "This was the most fun I've ever had recording."

Folds has been performing at a number of summer festivals lately, including Bonnaroo in Tennessee, where he premiered the new songs "Free Coffee", "Errant Dog" and "Hiroshima". "The songs have been getting a great reaction," Folds says. "It makes me look forward to having a new album out there because it's been a while. Jessica Simpson To Release Debut Country Album Do You Know? with Help From Dolly Parton

July 15, 2008 - 1:00am
Jessica Simpson will release her highly anticipated debut country album, Do You Know?, September 9, 2008. Produced by Brett James and John Shanks, Simpson co-wrote all but three of the tracks featured on the disc, including her current Top 25 hit single, "Come On Over." Log onto www.jessicasimpson.com to preview the video.

Simpson is certainly ready to come on over to country music. Recorded in Nashville, TN, this album gives listeners an inside look into the real Jessica Simpson. "Every single song is a piece of my heart ... who I am," comments Simpson. "I'm not what everybody thinks that I am. Believe it or not, I'm a simple country girl. I might buy expensive shoes," she laughs, "But, I'm definitely a simple country girl and this album will hopefully give people a sense of who Jessica is again."

Helping share Simpson's story is none other than country legend Dolly Parton who lends her powerful vocals to the title track, "Do You Know." Parton wrote this record just for Simpson. "It's such a great song," comments Simpson. "I'm so blessed to be able to sing with her on it ... she is so much a part of me finding myself as an artist."

Simpson will be giving country fans a preview of her new music as she hits the road this summer, playing select fairs and festivals including a stop at Fallsview Casino in Niagara Falls, on August 28.

Leonard Cohen's Toronto Shows Receive Smashing Reviews

June 24, 2008 - 1:00am
It had been 15 years since the last time Canadian singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen hit the stage, but the wait, it seems, was well worth it. Described by the Toronto Star as "breathtaking", Cohen played 4 packed shows in Toronto as an official kick off to a tour to his 2008 tour.

Cohen, who many consider to be one of the most influential songwriters and poets of all time, received impressive reviews across the board. Rolling Stone summed up his third night in Toronto by saying "Cohen poured everything he had into a stunning performance."

"For over 2 1/2 hours on Friday night at the Sony Centre," wrote the Toronto Sun, "Leonard Cohen was our man... The Montreal poet-singer-songwriter easily seduced a sold-out crowd during the first of four back-to-back shows."

He is currently performing at the Montreal Jazz Festival through to June 25th, and then visits Europe for 19 mostly sold out shows. Visit his official site for tour dates and information.
