King's Of Leon Confirm Fall Tour To Support 'Only By The Night'

August 19, 2008 - 1:00am
Kings of Leon have confirmed their first North American tour in support of the band's new record, 'Only By The Night'. The album will be released on September 23, and the tour kicks off on street date with an exclusive club show at New York's Webster Hall. It will run through November, making a stop in Toronto on November 7 at the Kool Haus .

The first single from 'Only By The Night' is the explosive and memorable "Sex On Fire," which is available now as a digital download. After premiering earlier this month on MySpace and the official Kings Of Leon site, the single is receiving positive feedback. In an interview with NME, singer Caleb Follwill described the track by saying "There's an element of sex that's expected in our songs, so I tried to wrap it all up in one song." The video was recently shot in Los Angeles with renowned director Sophie Muller.

Starting September 1, the band will host a series of home movies that document the making of 'Only By The Night'. Every day leading up to the release date, a new home movie will be featured on kingsofleon.com and the band's MySpace page.

'Only By The Night' was recorded at Blackbird Studios in Nashville, TN, and was produced by Angelo Petraglia and Jacquire King. It is a bold and expansive sonic statement that looks set to solidify Kings of Leon's position as one of the most important international acts of 2008 and beyond. It follows rapidly in the footsteps of the band's previous albums, "Youth And Young Manhood", "Aha Shake Heartbreak" and "Because Of The Times", all of which have quickly established them as one of the most prolific and acclaimed acts around.

Visit Kingsofleon.com for more information and tour dates, and check out the 'Only By The Night' teaser on the band's YouTube channel.

Alicia Keys Teams Up With Jack White For New James Bond Theme

July 31, 2008 - 1:00am
Sony Pictures has just announced that the much anticipated theme to 'Quantum of Solace', the forthcoming James Bond flick, has been recorded by Alicia Keys and White Stripes front man Jack White.

The theme song, entitled "Another Way To Die", was written and produced by Grammy-award winning Jack White, who also plays drums on the track. The duet with multiplatinum recording artist Alicia Keys marks a first in Bond soundtrack history. Previous themes have been sung by hitmakers such as Carly Simon, Tina Turner, and Chris Cornell.

"We are delighted and pleased to have two such exciting artists as Jack and Alicia, who were inspired by our film to join together their extraordinary talents in creating a unique sound for Quantum of Solace" said the movie's producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli. The soundtrack will be released Tuesday October 28, 2008, while the film hits theatres Friday November 7.

Recording the theme song was an exciting project for Keys, who released her third studio album 'As I Am' in November 2007, which has sold over 5 million copies world wide. "This was such an incredible process for me!" She said. "Rockin with Jack White is something that has absolutely been an unforgettable experience! Mixing rock and soul for the new bond movie theme gives it a mysterious unexpected strong and sexy vibe that I love. I'm glad to be a part of such a legacy."

The Black Kids 'Partie Traumatic' Available Now!

July 22, 2008 - 1:00am
Somewhere between touring incessantly and impressing everyone from David Letterman to Rolling Stone, the Black Kids managed to fit in some time to launch their debut full length, 'Partie Traumatic,' out today.

Produced by ex-Suede guitarist Bernard Butler, 'Partie Traumatic' is a collection of ten intelligent and energetic pop songs that Spin.com says "is sure to leave fingerprints on the repeat button across the indie-rock realm."

"Black Kids make catchy, tightly executed songs that put a memorable stamp on pop's classic themes," said Pitchfork. With comparisons to The Cure and Belle and Sebastian, The Black Kids wasted no time proving their effective mix of new wave meets modern pop. The buzz quickly spiraled the group of siblings and friends from the online world to the stages of Coachella and BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend. Their single, 'I'm Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend How To Dance With You" debuted at #11 in the UK, and is gaining traction in Canada now.
